ABOUT
Roger Hill - Just Native Furniture
I moved to Ohau from Wellington in 1996 to establish a business making native timber furniture. I specialise in making traditional style furniture but I am open to other styles. I use mainly recycled timber, predominately Rimu as well as other species such as Matai, Totara, Kauri and Macrocarpa.

All my indoor furniture has a tung oil finish and outdoor furniture has a specific finish that requires a maintenance coat once a year. My furniture is not mass produced, each item is made individually which not only gives you a better product but also makes it more enjoyable to craft.

Quoted prices are for Rimu, other species of wood are subject to availabilty. POA. I do also make commissioned items. Free delivery Palmerston North to Wellington on items over $300. Otherwise freight services available nationwide by arrangement POA.

Roger made two bedside cabinets to my specifications. Roger contacted me with any changes that needed to be made. These cabinets are beautifully made, I am so happy with the quality of the workmanship & the overall look of these bedside cabinets, so happy.

I recently called into the showroom at Just Native in Ohau as I had been looking for a couple of pieces of outdoor furniture to suit my new house. On talking to Roger he offered to come and see me to discuss my requirements (no obligation) as I was a little uncertain of exactly what would be suitable, I didn't want anything that looked too bulky. This was just as well because Roger was able to take measurements and give me a quote on a servery to go outside my kitchen windows which opened out to the barbecue area, and also some seating for a corner of the house where I often like to relax in the sun.
He did a drawing of a design he thought would be suitable and quoted for both totara and macrocarpa so I had a choice. My choice was totara and I am absolutely delighted with the finished units which, as it turns out, were pretty much exactly what I had visualised would look right.
I have no hesitation in recommending Roger as a craftsman who can give that little bit extra to a customer, which makes such a difference. He is happy to listen and come up with ideas that are just right.
